We hear a lot about good & bad contractors, and we're often asked who we'd recommend for different type of work. Usually, as the well driller we're the first people on the site after the septic designer, and usually the first ones off, so we don't often meet any other contractors. Recently, we've made it a point to ask our customers to forward the names of contractors they were happy with. He charges (at least with me) $115 per hour. Has two big excavators and an operator that has been running excavating machines for some 20 years. Good at ditch work as well (even though he's not bonded for that kind of work). I didn't know about these guys until after I had my foundation dug but I guess it's their specialty.

He charges $85 per hour and has a 450 machine. You'd be surprised how quick they can clear and grade when working together. I guess Bob also does excavating as well but I only used him for dozing.
